FREE MONTHLY PROGRAMS
On the 3rd Saturday of each month (except January and December), Solanco Historical Society offers a free historical program at 1:30 P.M. at the brick archives warehouse across from the Robert Fulton Birthplace. Located at 1932 Robert Fulton Highway, which is 6-1/2 miles south of Quarryville near Swift Road in Fulton Township, the programs are open to the public and the facility is handicapped-accessible. For more details on programs, speakers and our full list of events, click on the "Upcoming Events" section at the top of this page.
“Along the Scenic Octoraro Creek,” a free program by Mike Roth and Stan White, will be held on Saturday, August 20th at 1:30 P.M. This pictorial history of the area in and around Lake Octoraro will show scenes from before the lake was made. It was once the site of early iron foundries; flour, paper and saw mills; and farmland, as well as a vacation destination for many who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Many of the photographs have only recently been shared with the Historical Society and are still new and exciting to us. The program will be shown at the red brick archives warehouse across from the Robert Fulton Birthplace. It is open to the public and all are welcome. The building is handicapped-accessible. Please join us!
