About Us
Solanco Historical Society serves the southern end of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, including Quarryville Borough and Bart, Colerain, Drumore, East Drumore, Eden, Fulton, Little Britain, Providence and Sadsbury Townships.  We welcome any information and inquiries pertaining to Southern Lancaster County.   

Current Office and Research Hours:   9:00 A.M. to noon every Wednesday throughout the year, and 2nd and 4th Saturday mornings from September to May.

On the 3rd Saturday of most months, Solanco Historical Society offers a free historical program at 1:30 P.M. at its headquarters meeting room. Located at 1932 Robert Fulton Highway across from the Robert Fulton Birthplace, the brick archives warehouse is 6-1/2 miles south of Quarryville near Swift Road in Fulton Township. The programs are open to the public and the facility is handicapped-accessible. Next Program - Saturday, April 15th, 1:30 P.M.:  "Little Known Facts About Colonial Lancaster County" by John W. Brown. The talk includes background information about William Penn and his important stand on religious freedom, which drew settlers from many religions and European countries.  Free program; donations appreciated.

Saturday, June 3rd:  8th ANNUAL SOUTHERN END HOUSE AND HISTORY TOUR  - Mark your calendar now for this self-guided tour of 11 locations in Colerain Township, Southern Lancaster County and in nearby Lower Oxford, West Fallowfield and Highland Townships in neighboring Chester County.  Stunning historic homes, a new home, a Quaker meeting house, a 200-year-old Presbyterian Church, a covered bridge, and a dairy barn will be open for visitors. Watch a wood artisan demonstrate his early American skills, visit with cattle and end your day with a gift from an Alpaca farm gift shop.  Advance tickets available after May 8th for $17.00 at Solanco Historical Society, 1932 Robert Fulton Hwy. (Rt. 222) near Swift Rd., Fulton Township on Wednesdays from 9:00 - noon; at Erma's Flowers and Gifts, 12 State St., Quarryville or at Stoltzfus Farm Service, 1043 Gap-Newport Pike, Cockranville, both during normal business hours. On the day of the tour, tickets may be purchased for $20.00 at Union Presbyterian Church, 5637 Street Rd., Kirkwood, PA 17536 starting at 9:30 AM. Weekend of June 23rd, 24th & 25th:  CIVIL WAR LIVING HISTORY ENCAMPMENT -  Don't miss this enriching historical 3-day event.  Very knowledgeable Civil War reenactors of the 2nd Pennsylvania Cavalry and 59th Regiment Volunteers, Co. D, will be speaking of wartime experiences of the Union and Confederate officers as well as the much-revered President Abraham Lincoln. Visitors will be able to view the soldiers' living conditions, meal preparation, communications, weapons including artillery demonstrations; historical weapons display; and folk music.  On Sunday an outdoor worship service will be held.  Photographic opportunities will be available all weekend. Payment is by donation.

Robert Fulton Birthplace Preservation Fund - Thank you to all who supported our special fund drive to preserve the Robert Fulton Birthplace!  Proceeds of this fund will be used for closing costs and to make necessary repairs to the Birthplace.  These include museum room display upgrades and an array of necessary repairs.
