Destination: Robert Fulton Birthplace or the Southern Lancaster County Historical Society's Archives Warehouse, 1932 Robert Fulton Highway/Route 222 at Swift Road, Fulton Township, 6.5 miles south of the Borough of Quarryville, PA 17566
From the North: From I-78, take Exit 29A in PA to Rt. 61 south for 11 miles, then take Route 222 south for 33 miles towards Lancaster. Exit onto Route 30 west and in 1/2 mile, exit right towards Route 222/501 south (Lititz Pike). Make a left turn onto Route 222/501 south. Continue on Route 222 south for 6 miles, including a right turn onto McGovern Avenue and a left turn onto Prince Street. While still on Route 222 south, go through and past the city of Lancaster. One-quarter mile past the Double Tree Resort in the town of Willow Street, Route 222 turns left at a light but instead continue straight onto Route 272 south (Lancaster Pike). Go 13.2 miles
south, passing Providence Auto and Buck Motorsports, and continue for several miles, then turn left onto Hensel Road. Take the right fork onto Swift Road, for a total of 1.7 miles on Hensel and Swift. Turn right at the stop sign onto Rt. 222 and in 1/10 mile the Robert Fulton Birthplace is on the right. The brick archives warehouse ("Founder's Warehouse") is on the left.
From the South: Take Route 1 to the Route 272 north exit in Nottingham, PA. Turn right onto Route 272 north and go 7.7 miles, passing 2 stop signs but continuing straight, then turn right onto Little Britain Church Road. Go 1.5 miles north and at
the stop sign, turn right onto Route 222 north (Robert Fulton Highway) and go .3 mile. The Robert Fulton Birthplace is on the left; the archives warehouse is on the right.
From the East: Take Route 30 West to East Lampeter Township, PA. Turn left onto Rt. 896 south (at the Fulton Steamboat Inn, Rockvale Outlets, Olive Garden and the Waffle House on the corners). At the next light, do not follow Rt. 896 but continue STRAIGHT onto Decatur Street, which changes to May Post Office Road, for a total of 9.3 miles from Rt. 30 to Rt. 372. At the end stop sign, turn right onto Route 372/Valley Road and go 6.8 miles to Route 222 in Quarryville by the Wells Fargo Bank. Turn left onto Route 222/South Church Street in
Quarryville and go 6.8 miles south. The Robert Fulton Birthplace is on the right; parking is in the rear of the buildings. Alternatively turn left and park at the brick Archives Warehouse.
From the West: Take Route 30
East to Route 741 in Rohrerstown. Drive south on Rt. 741 for 10 miles and turn
left onto Long Lane (still Rt. 741). Turn right at the second light onto Route 272 (Lancaster Pike). Go 13.2 miles south, passing Providence Auto and Buck Motorsports, and continue for several miles, then turn left onto Hensel Road. Take the right fork onto Swift Road, for a total of 1.7 miles on Hensel and Swift. Turn right at the stop sign onto Rt. 222 and in 1/10 mile the Robert Fulton birthplace is on the right. The brick archives warehouse ("Founder's Warehouse") is on the left. Free parking is
available to the rear of the Robert Fulton birthplace and to the left of the
brick Archives Warehouse.
From the West in Southern York County: Take Route 74 and turn onto Route 372 east near Sunnyburn, south of Airville. Crossing the Norman Wood Bridge over the Susquehanna River, go straight for 9.6 miles to the light at Buck (near the Giant supermarket). Turn right onto Route 272 south (Lancaster Pike) and go 5 miles. Turn left onto Hensel Road. Take the right fork onto Swift Road, for a total of 1.7 miles on Hensel and Swift. Turn right at the stop sign onto Rt. 222 and in 1/10 mile the Robert Fulton Birthplace is on the right. The brick archives warehouse ("Founder's Warehouse") is on the left.
